Grilled BBQ Chicken Leg Quarters

Seasoned with sweet and savory rub, grilled until crispy and juicy, and brushed with barbecue sauce for an irresistible, caramelized finish—these chicken leg quarters are sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Recipe Ingredients
2-4 chicken leg quarters (about 2 1/2 - 4lbs)*
1 tbsp butter
~1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
Directions
Step 1: Mix the Sweet and Savory Chicken Rub ingredients together using a fork until no clumps remain.
Step 2: Pat the chicken leg quarters dry with paper towels. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the chicken, ensuring it coats every crevice and under the skin.
Step 3: Place seasoned chicken in a airtight bag or bowl and refrigerate for 30 mins to 24 hours.
Step 4: Heat the grill to 350°F and place leg quarters over direct heat.
Step 5: Flip every 5-10 minutes, moving to indirect heat when needed to prevent burning.
Step 6: Melt butter in a small sauce pan. Add barbecue sauce and stir occasionally until warmed through.
Step 7: When the chicken reaches an internal temperature of around 145°F, brush it with the warmed barbecue sauce. Flip the chicken to allow the sauce to caramelize on each side. Repeat this process until all the sauce is used or the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

How much rub do I use per leg quarter?
This seasoning recipe can be used for 4 leg quarters, however I prefer to double it. If grilling more than 4 leg quarters, increase the recipe accordingly.
Rule of thumb is to use 1 tablespoon of seasoning per 1 pound of chicken, however I like to add a little more!
The amount of seasoning can be adjusted based on personal flavor preferences and the number/ size of leg quarters.
